Looking For Your Favorite Art Teacher Blogs
I will be visiting my old university in a couple of months to talk to some Art Ed. student teachers about my first year of teaching. When I go, I want to have a large list of blogs that they can use as a resource. I have my favorite blogs shown on the side of my blog... as do many of you. What I want from you if you choose to help is the blog or blogs that you CHECK EVERYDAY... the blogs that you RUN HOME TO CHECK.
When I was student teaching, my cooperating teacher and I stumbled across a couple of art blogs (Thanks Deb). This was the greatest thing that could have happened to me. I struggled finding age appropriate ideas at the time. Art blogs allowed me to see lessons that were successful for other teachers at each grade level. I was able to take ideas and make them my own, or take a technique and attach it to a lesson I created. I learned so much... blogging has allowed me to see and share ideas at the tips of my fingers. I love the art blog community!
My two blogs that I check daily or as much as possible are DalisMoustache http://dalimoustache.blogspot.com/ and ArtwithMr.E. http://artwithmre.blogspot.com/ If you don't follow either one of these blogs please check them out. Both teachers have amazing lessons and have helped me out a ton with getting my blog to others.
So what are you FAVORITE BLOGS?
Mathew,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite blogs are Painted Paper and Deep Space Sparkle. You should check them out. Congrats on surviving your first year of teaching! Ugh. I remember it well.
I currently live in Nome, AK but at the end of this school year will be moving to Wild Rose and looking for a teaching job in the area. We'll be neighbors! Let me know if you want to share contact info. It's always good to have a network of Art Teacher friends to draw from! I'm also hoping to get an art ed blog up and running within the next month or so.

I did the same when I was in student teaching. Blogs are a constant source of inspiration and help not only through school but during my first year as a new teacher as well!
ReplyDeleteLeah: Deep Space Sparkle is awesome! Totally agree!
I also like: http://chumleyartroom.blogspot.com
http://www.artismessy.org
I also follow many design, craft and art blogs as well. Contemporary artists and even craft has inspired more than a few lessons in my classroom!
http://craftgawker.com/ - Links to craft, art and DIY from all over the net! (Warning: pretty girly, ignore the makeup stuff)
And I love Art21 series: I use it mostly with the older kids (6th-8th)
What I still need to find is more resources for Pre-school...any help?

Hey there! Thanks so much for including my blog, that really means a lot, so glad you like it! I always check out Phyl at http://plbrown.blogspot.com/ and my friend Pam's blog "Panther's Palette" at http://pantherspalette.blogspot.com/...there are a TON more, but those are great.
ReplyDeleteMy two favorite art teacher blogs are Art with Mr. E and There's a Dragon in my Art Room. I stumbled across Art with Mr. E when I was googling lesson plan ideas one day, and discovered I was not alone in art blogging! I started my blog at the beginning school (this is also my first year teaching) as a way for my friends and family to keep up with what I was doing, as well as for a free and organized way to store my photos of student work. Discovering the art teacher blogging community has been one of the best things that has happened to me professionally!
